Congratulations on another success, Father T. Yours is a voice I want to hear, and it's encouraging that diverse media agree.
With that said, I had much the same reaction as Set to this piece. Somewhere around the time you were speculating about the closeted president coming out, the whole thing started to feel like a Stephen Hawking book - you know, where you're reading the words, and you know what they all mean individually, but together they simply baffle you.
As a non-Floridian (and non-USian, by long-term residence if not by passport), I haven't paid all that much attention to Crist. But still, snap judgement: won't an awful lot of people find his plasticky vibe offputting?
Well let's wrap this up in the fact that speculation about a Crist presidency is really by nature almost like writing for Star Trek, so I've license to baffle as long as I reach the end of each sentence neatly. To your point about Crist being plasticky. Oddly enough, voting Floridians like him mucho. Go figure.
Have you been hitting the absinthe?
ReplyDeleteDear Set,
ReplyDeleteSorry but that goes right over my head. Explain.
That article is so wildly speculative I feel like I'm reading someones fevered hallucinogec dream.
