Catholics for Equality Celebrate Easter in DC

Catholics For Equality incorporated yesterday as a 501c3 and a 501c4. Don't check for the website now because it is not yet live.

A few minutes ago, at the HRC headquarters while internet political strategist Phil Attey and Catholics for Marriage Equality in Maine's Anne Underwood laugh, Progress Now's Aniello Alioto models a papal outfit he will wear at a party later today and appropriately demonstrates his ability to put his foot into his infallible mouth.

I have a very sincere question. I think. I have never once heard of any "religious brothers" being accused of pedophilia or sexual assault of anyone. Is it only priests? Do Brothers take a vow of poverty and celibacy? I know priests are for profit and have no desire to live as paupers. Right? It just seems wonderful that brothers are not involved at all in this scandal and i am so happy and encouraged to hear it if it is true.

ewe, yes, religious brothers are abusing too. My abuser was the founder and superior of a group of religious brothers in Davenport, IA. He abused myself and several others, yet he was allowed to move his group of brothers from diocese to diocese for over 30 years, in spite of being reported for his abuse in each diocese he was in. He and his "community" were finally expelled when someone filed a lawsuit against one of the diocese he was in and child porn was found on the computers of one of the other brothers. As for poverty, they are supposed to be poor, but that same superior was buying million dollar houses after his community was disbanded, using money he had accumulated over the years. Oh, and he is still passing himself off as a religious.

I have no idea what those numbers mean, but apparently it's good news, so I lit a candle for you during the sharing of joys and concerns at today's UU meeting here.
