Now On Bilerico

C, who feels we are already over-exposed, is rolling his pretty blue eyes, but I'm delighted to say that I have been offered a place on the Bilerico team where I'll be doing an advice column called Father Tony's Confessional.

Won't this be great fun!

I hope you'll consider visiting me there, and writing to me. I've never known you folks to be shy, but many of you have some fascinating secrets and dilemmae that might be shared surreptitiously and anonymously through this new route.

Standing with the Bilerico team, I feel a little bit "Belle Whatley", but I'll be on my best behavior....

Padre congratulations on your new "job"....I am curious to know what prompts people to request "advice" in this way. When I linked over to the Bilerico site I read that your are STILL?? a Roman Catholic priest?? How and why?? Regards!! Debriefer

Dear Debriefer,
I have found that people request advice when they have nowhere to go with their problem. Those of us lucky enough to have friends and partners take them for granted in this regard.

Regarding my staus in the Roman Catholic Church, I simply walked out of it. Several years ago, a close relative wondered if I could do their Catholic wedding. A quick call to the Chancellor of my diocese got me the green light. In other words, I have a clean record. I was never suspended. I could go back at any time. The info in my file just comes to a wordless stop when I walked out. Of course, if I keep on blabbing at this rate, the ecclesiastical powers that be may eventually take notice and slap my wrist. Not that I would much care at this point. Besides, I have friends in Rome....

Congratulations - I'm certainly looking forward to this new venture.

I am thrilled and apprehensive, anticipating your dry humor and wisdom in the new column and fearing that we will lose your wonderful prose that we all love here.

Congratulations, Father T. I hope Bilerico knows they've caught a big fish.

Oh, we do, birdie, we do.

I've been a reader here for a good while - Joe introduced me to Father Tony's blog. I'm thrilled to have him writing an advice column for the site.

And I'M the Belle Whatley of the blog, Tony. My most popular post on the site is called, "Wild Animal Sex." Sadly, it's not what you think, but search engines can't figure that out. You'd be shocked at how many people search for "wild animal sex."

Padre,
Thanks for the reply. What a comfortable fool I am to take my friends and partner for granted. Your gentle reminder was appreciated.
Your friends in Roma must be influential indeed! Were you a diocesan priest or in an order? I am guessing the former.
I am in Fort Lauderdale at the moment awaiting the arrival of my spouse this evening. All the best and to be sure I will be checking your other gig.
