Thursday on Bilerico: Kevin Unrepentant

And below the video, for those who'd skip it, is the text of the letter. You know you'll find my answer at Bilerico on Thurday.

Hi Fr. Tony:
I'm a practicing catholic and have a question about confession. I go several times a year and always say the same thing: jerk off regularly, watch porn and have sex with guys a couple times a year. I feel like God is saying why do i confess the same thing over and over when the priest absolves it over and over! Should I continue to bring this up or let it go and confess more important stuff? Thanks for any insight you may have. Kevin

(PS: I had selected a sweet accordian-laden Henry Mancini cover of Crazy World from Victor Victoria as the background, but my itunes library had a different idea.)

UPDATE: It's up. Get on it.

I continue to regret that I don't know you in private life. :-)

Padre, what's up with the wand?

Dear Monsieur de Briefay,

It's actually a paint brush. I do these things in haste, further evidenced by the crumpled napkin into which i had sneezed before speaking. Sup, dude, email me.

Dear Brian, given you heartlandishness, I fear we are doomed to dream it.

I am loving these video spots. The camera adores you, or you adore the camera...having trouble deciding which answer has more validity. You do exude charisma, and the magic wand worked well. Kudos to your prop stylist!

Tater Dear, it's a paint brush, but i am quite sure that if called upon i could part the red Sea with it.

I liked your response to Kevin and your sharing your own experience. Love the t-shirt, the facial expressions and most of all the orchids adoring your pate.

The gift of grace is a rather amazing this to be able to pass along, don't you think?

And I'd be happy to loan you my tiara and sceptre for the next installment if you wish.

Tony, having been only on the customer-side of the divider (and that, not in decades) it sure sounds like confession is more of a rush for the priest than the sinner.

That, and I'll echo Brian Spolarich's sentiment.

Dear Ashe,
I can only speak for myself, but I would not describe confession as giving me a rush. It did give me the satisfaction of knowing that I was doing something good for people once a week for a few hours. Other priests may feel nothing but the mechanics of the sacrament. Others may see it as a counseling opportunity. I don't know.

Fr. Tony, the priesthood lost a good one when you resigned. If more religious people had your views, the whole world would be a better place. Beautiful.
